Founded on 13th February 2008, Amanda and Keith combined their skills to offer technical media relations to companies in the STEM industries. Keith was an electrical engineer that designed and commissioned control systems who switched to marketing when there was a clear need for copywriters with technical knowledge. Amanda had years of PR experience in the industrial sector with good relationships with publications and trade journals that maximised client media coverage.
Ten years on, and this rare combination is a resounding success. Fresh still works with some of its earliest clients – Industrial Washing Machines, Megger and Vacon (now Danfoss Drives) – which is testament to its exceptional service, results delivered and working relationships established.
Amanda comments: “From humble beginnings starting on my Dad’s dining room table, to our very own office in the heart of Birmingham, Fresh PR has grown beyond recognition during our first ten years.”
“Things have certainly changed in that time – I still remember printing press releases and images and posting them to editors! The whole marketing ecosystem has changed. Gone are the days where we just do media relations, we’ve now developed services that keep up with client and industry demands, such as social media, content marketing and inbound. We’ve won and been shortlisted for 21 awards ranging from Young Communicator to Outstanding Consultancy, and Best STEM Campaign to Best External Publication. We’ve got a great team in place that are passionate about technical media relations, creating content and promoting STEM companies.
I’d like to thank all our clients, staff, journalists, suppliers, friends and family for all the support over the years. It’s been a great ten years and I’m looking forward to seeing what the next decade will bring”.
Keith adds: “Getting Fresh started was no foregone conclusion – in fact, I had to twist Amanda’s arm rather determinedly to get her to agree to give it a go. Over the last decade, we’ve had a few hairy moments as you might expect, but we’ve also had a lot of fun. Make no mistake though, we’ve had to work damned hard to earn it. Clients these days definitely want value for money, and that’s what we aim to deliver. I’ve never for one moment regretted setting up Fresh all those years ago, and I sincerely hope Amanda feels the same. I suppose some sort of indication is that she hasn’t fired me yet!”
The team celebrated the milestone a little early in December with a VIP day out to The Good Food Show at the NEC, Birmingham. A jolly day out was had with lots of food consumed, drinks sampled and goodies purchased.
